Having played baseball for well over 20 years now, I've had the privilege to play along side of college coaches, current and former Class A ball players, independent leaguer's and on rare occasion, former MLB players. The one thing they all have in common was "to never get out worked" in any way, shape, or form in their practice, pregame, workouts, tee work, or anything else for that matter. To me, sharing that and drilling it home with my college prep 18U softball players is paramount. If heeded to, their future chances for long term collegiate softball success and overall LIFETIME success is doubled.
Part of my action plan every season is to include in my teams workouts; zoom calls with podcast coverage on softball IQ and concentration know-hows, proper mechanics for player durability and effectiveness for fielding, proper base running skills, opposite field POWER hitting mechanics, slapping techniques, catcher specific training, Pitcher and Catcher specific empowerment lessons, mental conditioning and leadership skill building all within practice settings.
Also, I do give lessons for the above as well...ask me about #BASHLETES anytime.
Thankfully, I have a supportive wife and family of 5 for over the last 23+ years who have supported my passion to continue to coach on! Our daughter will go on this season to play her 3rd season of D3 collegiate softball for Kalamazoo College.
